What exactly does a sourcing agent do?
We stand between you and Chinese factories: finding and vetting suppliers, negotiating prices, following production, inspecting goods before shipment, and coordinating export. You get one English-speaking contact and full accountability โ instead of chasing five factories on WhatsApp at 2 a.m.
How do you charge?
Full sourcing service: 3โ5% of order value. Inspection-only: a fixed per-visit fee from $99 within Guangdong. First consultation and initial quotes are always free. Every rate is agreed in writing before any work starts โ and I never take hidden commissions from factories. When you pay me, I work for you, and only you.
Are you a company or just one person?
Just one person โ and that’s by design. I’m Bean, based in Guangzhou. Big agencies charge big-agency prices because they carry offices, sales teams, and layers of staff. I don’t. You get senior-level attention on every order, direct communication, and rates that reflect a one-person overhead. Many clients say it feels like having their own employee in China.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
Not from our side. Factories set their own MOQs โ for custom production that’s often 500โ1,000 units, but we regularly help clients start smaller through stock programs, low-MOQ workshops, or sample-run suppliers. Tell us your budget and we’ll tell you honestly what it buys.
Can you inspect the goods before they ship?
Yes โ that’s the core of what we do. Pre-production samples, during-production checks, and a full pre-shipment inspection (AQL standard) with photo and video reports. If it fails, it doesn’t ship โ we make the factory fix it first.
I already have suppliers in China. Why would I need you?
Keep them. Use us as your eyes and hands on the ground: factory audits, inspections, translation, chasing delays, and export paperwork. Many clients start with inspection-only service and expand the relationship later.
How do I know my payment is safe?
You pay factories directly or through secure channels โ we never ask you to route order value through us (our service fee is separate). Where risk is high, we structure payments in stages tied to milestones you approve.
How long does the sourcing process take?
A supplier shortlist in 3โ5 days, quotes within a week, samples in 1โ2 weeks, and production typically 25โ45 days depending on the product. We give you a realistic timeline up front โ and tell you when a factory is promising fantasy dates.
Can you help when I visit China?
Yes โ we’re based in Guangzhou, home of the Canton Fair. We arrange factory visits, accompany you to trade fairs, interpret, and plan your itinerary. Many clients combine a fair trip with factory tours we set up in advance.
Do you work with small businesses?
Yes. One-person Amazon sellers and family businesses are where most of our long-term clients started. You get the same attention as bigger buyers โ today’s small orders are tomorrow’s big ones.
